Wikipedia says “Sacred geometry ascribes symbolic and sacred meanings to certain geometric shapes and certain geometric proportions.” I do this as well with color and image. In this painting I dug into my trove of ancient tile images, pulled up all the blue in me and I set an intention to fill this canvas with the beauty I see in sadness. As it progressed this painting had the audacity to look back at me and ask“Why?”
Why what? Why blue? Why sad, why beauty?
“Yes, and why create paintings?”
Look closely up and left and you might see who influenced my love of blue. Stand back and you may see the movement of so many lives through the clouds. Look around for half buried flowers and bits of gold. They are all in me, and now you.
This is my answer.
